Former Treasury official Tom Mokaya Osinde was reported missing on Saturday, June 24.

While addressing the press, the family claimed that his car was recovered, vandalised and abandoned in Kilgoris, Transmara West.

The family added that they last spoke to him on Friday, June 23, when he left home aboard the car.

The family, engulfed with worry, made a heartfelt appeal to the public or anyone privy to his whereabouts to contact them or file a report at the nearest police station.

Police interrogated the family members and recorded their statements as investigations into Osinde's disappearance commenced.

"The most important thing is to help bring him back alive. As of now, everyone is trying to ensure that our kin is safe and sound," a family spokesperson disclosed.

Osinde, a financial expert, graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Nairobi before joining the Treasury Department.

In 2010, he quit his role to manage his private business while enjoying a peaceful life at his Ngata Farm in Nakuru.

According to his family, Osinde was a philanthropist who generously supported various charity organisations. He was also described as a kind and generous man loved by relatives and friends.

Citizen TV show host, Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka was among his friends who urged the police to intervene.

"Just received worrying news about an old friend of mine gone missing! Kindly help trace this gentleman," Machoka pleaded.

Police were said to be treating the report as a high-priority case, with recorded statements serving as crucial leads for the detectives.

As the search for the missing former civil servant intensified, his family hoped the detectives would solve the puzzle and reunite him with his family.

Osinde, who lived in Ngata, Farm, Nakuru, is the brother of the late Ken Nyauncho Osinde, who served as Kenya's ambassador to Germany between 2010 and 2014.

His brother also served as the Chief of Staff at President William Ruto’s office before he died at a hospital in Nairobi on Friday, December 10.
