In a show of empathy and compassion, Trade Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria and nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege raised Ksh32,000 for an expectant woman who was due to deliver.
The pregnant woman interrupted the duo's function in Murang'a County on Saturday, June 24, as they distributed food to the locals.
Kuria and Chege temporarily halted the meeting as residents and emergency service providers attended to the woman.
After realising that the patient needed advanced treatment, monitoring and evaluation, Kuria chipped in with Ksh20,000 as Sabina and other guests raised the balance.
The duo also facilitated a driver to rush her to a nearby hospital and purchased household items for the soon-to-be young mother.
"If it is a boy let him be named Moses. If it is a girl, then name her Sabina," Sabina Chege wished.
"I have noticed that people in this region are blessed with kids. I will be back on Saturday," Kuria added amidst laughter.
Furthermore, Kuria handed a bag of goodies to the oldest man in the area, aged 100.
This was part of the program aimed at distributing food to different wards in Murang'a County, to cushion Kenyans from the high cost of living.
"Our third food distribution stop, was at Kamukabi Grounds, Kinyona Ward in Kigumo constituency. I took that opportunity to urge the Muranga leadership to stop unnecessary feuds and work in unison as that will ensure they pull together and deliver to the great people of this county," Kuria stated.
During the exercise, the residents lamented that they were yet to benefit from the subsidised fertiliser program introduced by President William Ruto. According to the residents, cheap fertiliser was available only in Maragua.
"I will talk to President William Ruto and inform him of this issue. You must benefit from this program aimed at supporting farmers," Kuria pledged.
