Acting Jubilee Party Leader Sabina Chege on Wednesday, July 12, hit out at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in her first official statement since the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal declared her as the legitimate leader.

The nominated Member of Parliament castigated the Azimio Leader for allegedly meddling in the affairs of the Jubilee Party.

While denouncing the demonstrations that rocked most parts of the country, spearheaded by the Azimio Coalition of which the Jubilee Party is a member, Chege dissociated the former ruling party from the melee.

“We strongly condemn today's events orchestrated by the opposition leader Raila Odinga. Today’s demonstrations, which resulted in the destruction of property that was undertaken by the Jubilee regime and the attack on our dedicated police service, are deplorable,” she stated.

Sabina Chege further remarked that the tribulations rocking Jubilee Party were of Raila’s making in a move that was seen to drive a wedge in the opposition's camp and dissociate Jubilee supporters from the protests.

“We condemn the inflammatory language used by the opposition leader on Jubilee members of Parliament that hold a different political stance from his.

“It is imperative that he acknowledges and respects the fact that ideological differences exist among us,” she further castigated Raila.

Chege further accused the former Prime Minister of continuously using provocative rhetoric hence frustrating reconciliation efforts within her party and asked him to stop meddling in Jubilee Party affairs.

The former Murang’a Woman Representative also beseeched Raila to stop inciting people within Jubilee insisting that it was not the the right way to address coalition differences.

“We must find common ground through constructive engagement and a commitment to the democratic process,” she added.

Former Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, in a rejoinder, noted that he did not recognise Chege as the party leader despite the ruling.

We urge our members to not only disregard it but treat it with the utter contempt it deserves,” he disregarded Chege’s effort to bring together the warring parties.

The decision to kick out Kioni as Secretary General and David Murathe as Vice Chairperson was upheld by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal on Monday, July 10.

On the ruling, Sabina Chege's outfit led by acting Secretary General Kanini Kega was determined to be the legitimate leadership of Jubilee.

This, in essence, nullified a National Delegates Convention (NDC) held by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta held on Monday, May 22, that replaced Chege, Kega and other rebel members who had joined the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
