Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Saturday, July 22, criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta over his statements on TV regarding the raid on his son's house by the police.

Speaking in Vihiga County while in the company of President Willian Ruto, the trade unionist wondered why the former Head of State was conducting himself in the manner that he did.

He blamed Uhuru for the Azimio election loss wondering how Uhuru was ever going to help former Prime Minister Raila Odinga clinch the presidency with his 'meek' demeanour.

"What made us lose was Uhuru. You even saw the former President on TV. With the way our former leader was speaking yesterday, do you think we would have won the elections?

"We tried our best but we were defeated because Ruto was well-organised. Isn't it?" he posed.

Atwoli maintained his support for Ruto even as he criticised the ongoing protests staged by the Azimio Coalition led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

"As the people of the Western region under the leadership of Prime Cabinet Secreatry Musalia Mudavadi, we will be on the government side,

"I want to thank our people for supporting the President and refusing to take part in the ongoing demonstrations," the COTU boss stated.

Atwoli was among the leaders allied to Ruto who called out Uhuru after he defended his son - whose house was raided by police on Friday over alleged misuse of weapons.

For the first time since handing over to his successor, Uhuru dared Ruto to go after him directly instead of applying intimidation tactics.

“The fact that I have been silent doesn’t mean I am scared. Come for me. What does my mother have to do with anything? What does my son have to do with anything?" Uhuru wondered.

Atwoli dumped Azimio for Kenya Kwanza after Raila lost in the polls. He has since landed a government job as a member of the National Labour Board.
