A middle-aged woman from Emukoyani village in Kakamega County sent away her lover after her long-term husband returned home 17 years later.

The woman, identified as Agripina Mulupi, had reportedly lived with her lover for three years. According to Emukoyani villagers, the husband, Boniface Moi Muyeshi demanded his competitor be chased away before he resettles with his wife.

"He left home for Nairobi back in 2006. He left his family behind, never to be seen again," a resident told the media.

Mulupi was compelled to bid her lover farewell in an incident that left the community reflecting on the intricacies of her life and relationships.

In her defence, she argued that poverty and a yearning for love and appreciation forced her to settle down with another man despite remaining legally married to her husband.

"I settled down with someone else as I was unable to raise these children on my own," Mulupi recounted her struggles after her husband disappeared.

According to the Emukoyani villagers, the two lovers even managed to sire a child together, whom they lovingly raised as a harmonious and joyful family unit.

However, the lover's fate took a dramatic turn when her husband, Boniface Moi Muyeshi, resurfaced after nearly two decades, prompting the woman to deliver the heart-wrenching news.

"I had to send my current lover away as the man of the house came back. We will make plans on how to co-parent," Mulupi added, offering the heartbroken lover a much-needed assurance.

As a show of a good gesture, the woman embraced her 42-year-old husband and publicly declared her allegiance to him, promising to rekindle their memories.

Despite Muyeshi's siblings breaking into songs and dancing to celebrate the return of their long-lost family member, some of them were left in confusion, unsure of the fate that awaited the devoted lover.

"We suspected that he (Muyeshi) had passed away during the 2007/2008 post-election skirmishes," his relative Fredrick Witumbele stated.
