It's business unusual at the house on the hill.

After becoming disillusioned by unprofessionalism on the part of senior executive members, President William Ruto on August 1, locked out several Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and parastatal heads from State House and demanded written explanations detailing why they were late to the meeting.

One of the Cabinet Secretaries reportedly blocked from accessing State House on that particular day is Trade and Investments Minister Moses Kuria, who has since shaped up amid fears of being shipped out or being reassigned to a less plum docket.

Speaking during a church service in West Pokot County on Sunday, August 13, Transport Cabinet Secretary hilariously revealed that since being reprimanded, CS Kuria has gone to extreme lengths to ensure that he does not fall on President Ruto's wrong side once again.

Murkomen hilariously narrated how Kuria did not sleep prior to the cabinet meeting held in Sagana, Nyeri County during President Ruto's five-day working tour of the Mt. Kenya region.

"You saw last time during the meeting, officials were locked out if they arrived late. Then they were reprimanded and told not to be late again," Murkomen stated.

CS Murkomen also revealed that he was forced to wake up as early as 4 am to travel to Sagana since he was in Nairobi for other ministerial duties.

"When we had a cabinet meeting in Sagana I woke up at 4 am and started my journey to the meeting to ensure that I was not locked out," the CS narrated.

At 5:50 am, Murkomen made the decision to call CS Kuria, aiming to check up on him and ensure his timely attendance at the meeting. To his astonishment, Kuria answered the call on the very first ring.

"He told me he hadn't slept all night due to anxiety over the meeting and he feared getting late again," Murkomen stated amidst laughter from the congregants.

The CS explained that this was part of Ruto's strategy to ensure government officials fall in line and don't stray away from his main agenda which is to deliver on his campaign promises.

Murkomen added that Ruto wants all his CSs to account for the resources afforded to them including time.

He also dismissed claims that the President was looking to sack some members of his cabinet following unfounded speculation that the Head of State was looking to create extra positions in anticipation of a potential handshake with Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

During the August 1 meeting at State House, Ruto locked out Kuria his Interior counterpart Kithure Kindiki, several principal secretaries, and some parastatal bosses.

The Head of State, angered by the unprofessionalism displayed by the executive bigwigs reprimanded his appointees and directed them to furnish him with detailed explanations as to why they were late.

Ruto explicitly directed them not to make any mention of being stuck in traffic saying that he would not accept that as an excuse.

"If you cannot keep time with your employer you have basically dismissed yourself. For those who came late, who are members of the Executive. I will be expecting a written explanation from you," Ruto directed.

His stern warning sent shivers down government officials' spines who have since made it a priority to arrive at meetings earlier.
