President William Ruto has warned those who stole millions of shillings meant for providing scholarships to students from Uasin Gishu County that no stone will be left unturned in the quest for justice.

Former governor and now Senator Jackson Mandago has been accused of mismanaging over Ksh1 billion that was collected from parents to fund their children's education in Finland and Canada.

Speaking at a rally on Wednesday, August 16, Ruto assured the residents, and parents in particular, that the monies that they gave to the county will be recovered by anti-corruption agencies.

The Head of State noted that the action by county officials was shameful and dangerous to society since the suspect destroyed the lives of young people.

"It's embarrassing for anyone to steal money meant for the education of young people in Uasin Gishu," Ruto stated, adding that, "those involved should carry their own cross."

Already, a court has ordered the arrest of Mandago and three other former top officials.

The parents had petitioned the Senate and President Ruto, seeking help to be refunded the money they paid to the county government.

In response, President Ruto noted that he would ensure that investigations were conducted appropriately and the culprits jailed for their criminal acts.

"I will not allow anyone to steal from our children. The money will be returned to the parents," Ruto assured the parents who were cheering him up.

He also acknowledged that the scandal had caused outrage in Uasin Gishu County, where many parents are struggling to make ends meet.

The parents who responded to Ruto noted that they were hopeful that the Head of State would help them get their money back, and jail the suspects.

"We are grateful to the President for his concern. "We hope that he will help us get our money back," a parent responded to President Ruto.
