A Kenya Forest Ranger (KFS) fainted during Wednesday's pass-out parade at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy at the NYS Gilgil parade grounds.
The ranger fainted in front of President William Ruto, who presided over the parade but it was not immediately clear what could have caused it.
The officer was immediately put on a stretcher and taken out of the parade to receive first aid.
Sources who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, speculated that the ranger may have collapsed due to the extended time they were required to stand while waiting to take an oath of service.
"The officers had been there since morning and it got overwhelming. He was quickly attended to," a source noted.
There was no immediate confirmation from the government if the collapsed officer had a preexisting condition that could have led to the collapse.
The ranger was part of 2,664 recruits who were graduating from the Forest Law Enforcement Academy.
The cohort has now officially joined the service and is expected to protect, conserve and sustainably manage forests and their resources in the country.
This follows a six-month rigorous paramilitary training in readiness for the noble duty of forest protection.
