PS Susan Mang'eni Sustains Injuries in Busia Accident

Micro, Medium, and Small Enterprises (MSMES) Principal Secretary Susan Mang'eni, was on Monday involved in a road accident that left one dead.

The accident happened at around 3 pm at Korinda area in Busia County.

According to reports, Mang'eni’s car rammed into a motorcycle killing the bodaboda rider on the spot.

Due to the crash's impact, the vehicle's airbags were deployed from which the PS sustained injuries.

Following the accident, PS Mang'eni was rushed to the Busia hospital for specialised medical treatement.

Mang'eni who is a governance and development expert was appointed by President William Ruto as a PS in the the Ministry of Cooperative and MSMES in November 2022.

She was sworn in alongside 50 other PSs on December 1, 2022 at State House.

"The jobs and the responsibilities you have been given are not private positions, neither are they family positions, or community positions. They are positions to serve the entirety of the people of the Republic of Kenya," President Ruto said to the new appointees after they had taken their oath of office.

" I will expect every Principal Secretary to work diligently and to the best of their ability."

Prior to that, she served on the Boards of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and the Competition Tribunal of Kenya.

The PS has also worked in the private sector where she engaged in consultancies and discourses focused on socio-economic and political transformation.

She holds an MA in Entrepreneurship Development and a BS in Public Science and Public Administration.

Mang'eni has been a key player in shaping government policies and programmes having been a member of the Working group on the Socio-Economic audit of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, whose findings were tabled in the National Assembly in 2016.

At the time, she was under the Office of the Auditor General where she handled the assessment of the impact of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, on governance and public institution.
