Six vehicles were on Thursday involved in a collision on Southern Bypass in Nairobi, just two weeks after a series of accidents that led to loss of life.

In a video shared online, the collision occurred at the Lang'ata Interchange, with six vehicles piling on top of each other.

One of the vehicles involved in the accident, a white Toyota Prado, was shoved into a ditch, with its body damaged.

The Prado's bonnet and front wheel were missing as a result of the accident's impact.

By the time of publishing this article, emergency responders and traffic officers had arrived at the scene.

The cause, damage, and casualties of the accident are yet to be determined as police are yet to release an official statement.

The accident comes barely a fortnight after another accident occurred along the Southern Bypass route that claimed three lives.

This is after a truck lost control and rammed into a personal car which was pushed into a nearby drainage.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the vehicle had rolled multiple times following the accident.

Following a series of accidents on the Southern bypass, motorists have blamed recent maintenance works for endangering the lives of road users.

In October, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen made an impromptu visit to the highway following complaints by motorists over new speed bumps erected along the route.

According to motorists, the bumps erected were too high, leading the drivers to lose control. Further, motorists faulted the lack of proper road signage and indicators along the busy highway.

In response, CS Murkomen ordered the deployment of police officers to man the road.
