Popular Inooro FM radio presenter Nyoxx wa Katta on Thursday swooped in to help a drug addict after a video depicting the victim shaking and struggling to hold a mug of alcohol went viral.
Following the incident, the presenter went on record requesting Kenyans; specifically, the victim's friends and family to help her locate him to enable the presenter to get him some help.
She finally got a hold of him and is set to check him into a rehab centre with help from Kenyans and well-wishers.
"After reaching out to you today to help us reach the guy in our viral video so many people responded and gave us contacts for the family... We were able to talk to the parents who expressed their desire to see their son get help,' she stated.
The matter was also escalated to former Chairman of the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board (NACADA) John Mututho.
He offered to take the man to rehab free of charge to rescue him from the addiction bondage.
The short video depicted the man facing severe withdrawal symptoms as he attempted to take a sip from a mug at a local joint.
He was assisted to take his drink by one of the attendants with his hands shaking as he struggled to hold the cup.
Such videos serve as a reflection of the situation in most regions of the country where Kenyans are addicted to drugs including illicit alcohol.
"For those who think too much alcohol intake has no effects, this is a good example of what awaits you in the future. Once you get to this stage it will take a lot of work to get you clean," one social media user commented.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been waging a war against the sale of illicit brew, especially in the Mt Kenya region.
Gachagua has vowed to weed out the vice in the country and ensure the young men get employment to prevent them from running back to the bottle.
Kenyans have also called for better support for addicts including; making rehabilitation centers less expensive.
