A third-year student at Rongo University in Migori County died on Thursday after he was involved in a disagreement with a friend at a club near the institution.

A source who shared the details with Kenyans.co.ke stated that Abel Pchumba and his friend had initially agreed to split the bill for their drinks at the club.

As they continued to revel by ordering more drinks, tensions escalated after Pchumba's friend accused him of not contributing his share of the drinks.

The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, with their friends forced to intervene and separate them.

After a brief period, peace was restored, and the two friends went their separate ways, oblivious that their lives were in danger.

The source revealed that Pchumba's friend remained deeply upset about the situation and tracked the third-year student to his residence.

According to the source, the suspect followed Pchumba from the club to his home, where another confrontation ensued. During this altercation, the suspect resorted to violence, allegedly using a knife to stab Pchumba.

"He was taken to Rongo Hospital and then transferred to Tabaka Hospital. After hours of receiving treatment, he passed on Thursday morning," the insider and eye witness told Kenyans.co.ke.

This incident joins the latest in a series of student fatalities within university environments.

Many of these cases are linked to factors such as relationship issues or disputes that escalate into violent altercations.

In a separate incident last week, a student from Multimedia University was discovered hanging in his hostel room.

Reports indicated that he had chosen not to accompany his friends to a club and remained at home. Hours later, his friends found him hanging in his room.
