Purity Muchiri, a Kenyan residing in Dubai, has gone missing, moments after sending a cryptic message to her family.
Wilson Muchiri, Purity's brother, revealed in a statement, that his sister went missing last Thursday after sending a message that read, "I might die today, good luck," before her phone went off.
Concerned about her well-being, the family reached out to a friend residing in Doha, who reported the matter to the police in Abu Dhabi.
The police informed the family friend that the case could only be treated as a missing person report.
"I have a friend working in Abu Dhabi, to whom I explained the situation, and he reported it to the police. However, he was informed that the case can only be treated as a missing person report," she stated.
"I sent another friend of mine yesterday, and she was told that the lady should call 999 if she is in trouble."
According to Wilson Muchiri, an unknown number called his wife in Kenya on the night of Sunday, November 5. A person with an Arabic accent repeatedly stated, "Speak, speak," and Purity Muchiri managed to utter "hello" in a weak voice before the call was disconnected.
Concerned and desperate for information, Wilson contacted the number to seek clarification about his sister's whereabouts.
"The person on the other end of the line informed me that he had found a young Kenyan girl outside a hypermarket, seriously injured to the point of being unable to stand. She was also crying."
Since then, the family has been trying to locate Purity to unravel the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
"She arrived on a visiting visa and was likely job hunting since she mentioned doing casual work," he added.
