County Govt Converts Water Tanks to Pit Latrines for Residents

 A section of Kenyans have called out the Wajir County government after photos of a tank turned into a pit latrine emerged online of a tank it converted into a pit latrine surfaced online.

According to reports, the tank was allegedly fitted at the Salelmac Dispensary in Wajir South to serve the locals.

In photos circulated widely, the water tank was cut on the side to pave the way for a door.

A man can also be seen fixing a wooden door at the entrance.

A section of Kenyans accused the government of misappropriating funds and having misplaced priorities.

Some also questioned why the government would overlook the crucial sector to allegedly divert funds elsewhere.

Further, Kenyans accused the county leaders of cruising in luxury cars and residing in high-end areas in Nairobi at the expense of the taxpayers. 

"This is unfortunate, the government has failed its people. What can we expect in the next four years," one commented.

Others pointed out the impending danger of contracting diseases, especially during this rainy season across the country.

However, others came to the defense of the county government but urged it to release a statement to allay any fears.

By the time of publishing the article, Kenyans.co.ke could not independently verify whether the latrines had been revamped.
