A taxi driver became the target of an attempted robbery along Thika Road on Sunday evening.

Police reports indicate that the driver received a ride request from a customer who wanted to be transported from Juja to State House Road.

Upon arrival, the driver found not just the expected customer but also two men and a woman.

Undeterred, the driver allowed all of them to board the vehicle, and he set off on the journey towards Kilimani.

However, as they approached the Githurai area, along  Thika Super Highway, the man pulled out a gun.

"One of the occupants who was on the back seat drew a man-made pistol capable of firing and pointed it at the driver ordering him to stop the vehicle," read part of the police report.

The driver, however, defied the orders and sped off into Kasarani Police Station where the three were arrested.

Police officers also recovered the man-made gun.

During the arrest, one of the suspects was photographed holding the firearm while handcuffed to another assailant.

A section of Kenyans have lauded the driver for his bravery and for putting his life in danger to overcome the ordeal.

Others warned the youth against engaging in criminal activities to avoid ending up on the wrong side of the law.

"The driver risked his life but the risk ended up paying off," another commented.
