Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday arrested four suspects linked to the disappearance of Ksh94 million money belonging to Quickmart Supermarket.

According to the detectives, the four employees of a transit company jointly partnered to steal the huge sum of money, with each playing a crucial role in the heist.

One suspect was accused of planning the whole scene, the second was in charge of gateway drivers, the third was the fleet supervisor, and the fourth played the role of the crew commander.

“After a thorough analysis of forensic evidence, detectives pursuing suspects in the November 6 thievery of over Ksh94.9 million while on transit have today arrested four more suspected accomplices," read part of a statement by DCI.

It added that all the suspects were the employees of the courier and security company.

“Besides negligence of duty, the four staffers who are guests of the state for the weekend are believed to have conspired with the two prime suspects who are still at large," DCI added.

According to detectives, the arrest of the four brings the total number of suspects apprehended to eight in the daring heist after four others were tracked a week ago.

Detectives recovered over Ksh9 million recovered in a jerrycan at a house in Roysambu after arresting the first quartet.

Their vehicle was also traced to Njiru within the Kayole area, where they were cornered while in the process of modifying the money to conceal its identity.

The detectives further recovered a cashbox in a forest next to Gataka market in Karen Estate.

“Efforts to trace, arrest, and recover the remaining stolen cash continue,” the detectives noted.
