The family of a 26-year-old man is currently mourning their kin after the body of their young son was found dumped by the roadside in the Utawala area, Nairobi County on Monday evening.
According to reports, the family had reported the young man missing on November 18 at Muungano Police Station in Utawala but efforts to trace him proved futile.
Family and friends, therefore, appealed to the public to help them locate their missing kin.
By the time of publishing this article, it was not immediately clear what caused the young man's death or the perpetrators behind the heinous act.
Law enforcement officers were looking for potential leads to unravel the murder and the motive behind the killer(s) actions.
As police continue with their investigations, the young man's funeral has been scheduled for Friday, December 1. The deceased will be buried in Kiringa Village, Embu County.
Meanwhile, his death has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans who questioned why disappearing cases are on the rise. Most observers were keen to point out that such cases mainly involve the youth.
"What is going on, there's sad news every day. May God have mercy. It is sad to lose such a young soul," one person remarked.
A section of Kenyans also called upon the government to create opportunities for the youth as a means to ensure they are gainfully employed. This they said, will help reduce such cases.
Notably, a similar case was reported on the morning of Monday, November 27 where a 21-year-old from Umoja was found at City Mortuary days after his family filed a case and announced him missing.
According to family members, the deceased was allegedly hit by a speeding vehicle along Outering Road in Nairobi.
His body was taken to City Mortuary awaiting identification.
Police and other relevant authorities have been asked to hasten the investigations to bring the culprits to book.
"Outering road is dangerous. The Kenya Urban Rural Authority (KURA) should do something about it," another opined.
