The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on Wednesday announced a temporary disruption of traffic along the Shimo la Tewa Road which leads to the Nairobi Industrial Area for five days.

In a statement, the Authority noted that motorists using the road will experience a disruption beginning December 1 at 6 am to December 5 at 6 am.

According to the road agency, the move will allow the contractor adequate time to conduct construction works on a section of the road.

“We wish to inform the general public that there will be traffic disruption along Shimo la Tewa Road (Nairobi Industrial Area) from 6 AM Friday 1st December 2023 till 6 AM Tuesday 5th December 2023,” read part of a statement by KURA.

Consequently, KURA advised motorists plying the road to exercise caution to ensure they remain safe and don't experience any mishaps.

“Motorists are advised to drive with caution as they approach the section and to follow the road signs provided,” KURA noted.

The Authority also revealed that traffic marshals will be deployed to the section to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the five-day period.

“We apologise for any inconveniences that may be caused as we endeavor to transform Urban Mobility,” KURA said.

This comes against the backdrop of the recent closure of a section of roads in Nairobi including Uhuru Highway, Parliament, and Aerodrome Roads.

In a statement released mid-last week, the Agency noted that the roads would be closed on Sunday, November 26, from 6 am to 2 pm to allow for a planned bike race at the Central Business District (CBD).

"Please note that sections of Uhuru Highway, Parliament Road, Aerodrome Road, and Parliament Road will be closed on Sunday, November 26. The closure is due to the Grand Nairobi Bike Race scheduled to take place at KICC, Nairobi," read a statement by KURA in part.
