Makau Mutua, the former spokesperson for opposition leader Raila Odinga's 2022 presidential campaign secretariat has dared members disagreeing with the coalition's decision to adopt the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report to leave the political formation.

In a statement, the professor asked the members going against the final report by the National Dialogue Committee to consider leaving, as it was a product of the party’s democratic processes.

Makau pointed out that the coalition is not a forced marriage.

“Azimio isn’t a forced marriage. Please leave if you can’t support the NADCO report which is the product of the party’s agreed democratic processes.”

This comes after two Azimio principals publicly opposed the report, going against the coalition’s stand.

Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua on Thursday, December 7 urged Kenyans to reject the NADCO report, as it failed to address the cost of living issue.

The Azimio co-principal noted that the main cause for demonstrations was barely addressed, claiming that the report was a fraud only set to benefit leaders.

Karua had also faulted the committee, terming them as incompetent.

“The NADCO report has nothing to alleviate the suffering of citizens but offers goodies to the leaders.”

“The report's findings confirm that the committee was formed by the unwilling, composed of the incompetent to do the unnecessary,” Karua stated.

Azimio's principal Eugene Wamalwa, who was also a member of the dialogue committee also disagreed with the final report, highlighting its failure to thoroughly address what he termed as the most important issue raised by Kenyans.

The Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) leader had further sworn to resist signing the report.

“I didn’t and will not append my signature to the NADCO report and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same.”

“I believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans; the cost of living,” Wamalwa stated.
