The bodies of 2 family members, a mother (87), daughter (50), and house help, were found in their newly built house in Thika East, Kiambu County.

According to reports, 2 of the bodies were found in the house with severe cuts while the other, retrieved outside the house, was found beheaded and buried in a shallow grave.

It is believed that the trio may have been murdered a few days before the recovery since the bodies were found in a decomposing state.

According to the neighbours, the trio had been missing since Saturday last week. One of them told journalists that the deceased was their regular milk customer but he had not seen them in a week.

"When we got to the house it was filled with houseflies and found their bodies, two inside and one buried outside. We had to inform their kin and the police who arrived promptly," one resident stated.

This revelation led to the locals believing that the act was committed a while ago with the culprits still unknown.

Police officers leading the investigations have not established the motive behind the murder.

The locals described the deceased persons as good people belonging to a peaceful family that got along well with their neighbours. They are said to have relocated to the village 3 years ago.

Police officers who spoke to journalists revealed that 2 bloody knives were found at the scene which were subsequently marked as evidence. It is expected that the exhibits will help the police officers in their investigations.

"When we got here, the house was locked from both outside and inside. We have begun our investigations and are optimistic that we will have the suspects arrested and prosecuted. It is unfortunate," Andrew Sora, Thika East police boss stated.

The incident left area residents in shock over the heinous nature of the crime. They called upon law enforcement officials to hasten the investigations and arrest the suspects.

Notably, this is just one of the numerous gruesome murders reported in the country over the last few months.

In March, a man and his wife were found murdered in their home in Nyamira County.
