The Nairobi Women's Hospital College has initiated investigations after one of its students was captured allegedly assaulting a nurse in a hospital in Busia County.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the institution condemned the behaviour of the student, adding that the actions do not align with its values and standards.
"To address this matter, we have initiated investigations to gather all relevant information and will institute appropriate measures in line with our institution's policies and procedures," reads part of the statement.
The institution further apologised to the affected hospital and the staff, adding that it was committed to training competent and exceptional graduates to impact the health sector positively.
This comes after the video of the lady alongside a man shouting and assaulting a nurse at the Busia Port Victoria Hospital while demanding service went viral.
"It has come to our attention that the student enrolled in the Theatre Technology program and awaiting graduation was reported to have caused disruption and harassed medical staff at a hospital in Busia County."
"We are dedicated to continuing the training of competent and exceptional graduates who positively impact the health sector," Nairobi Women's Hospital College stated.
While barefooted, the lady kicked the chair, and documents at the nurse's office, prompting the medical practitioner to defend herself.
The lady was also heard insulting the hospital employee threatening her to record the incident. On the other hand, the man reportedly drew a gun, causing tension at the healthcare facility.
Additionally, the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General also condemned the lady for threatening the safety of the healthcare workers and urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take decisive action.
"This is rudimentary, illegal, and immoral. The attitude and actions of politicians and their cronies to threaten healthcare workers at their place of work should be curtailed," he stated.
