The suspect was also apprehended and detained at the police station with his account of events expected to go a long way in helping unravel the circumstances that led to the unfortunate death.

Similarly, a friend of the main suspect found at the scene was also arrested to aid in investigations.

Reports indicate that the suspect had denied killing his girlfriend indicating that he found her tied up with stab wounds.

Kenyans.co.ke reached out to the institution but did not get a response by the time of publishing this article.

The incident is among several gruesome murders reported in universities directly related to romantic relationships.

Students are urged to seek guidance and counseling to avoid unnecessary suicide and murder cases.

In November, a first-year student from Kisii National Polytechnic was also killed by her boyfriend for allegedly being unfaithful to him.

Her body was found lifeless in her house by friends who went to visit her. When her body was discovered, it had knife wounds on the chest.

An angry mob later pursued the suspect and beat him with stones and other crude weapons before he was rescued by police officers.
