Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday pieced together the last moments of a 20-year-old girl killed along TRM drive in Roysambu, Karasani.

While grilling three individuals who were arrested in connection to the gruesome murder, it was established that the victim had been communicating with the main suspect through Instagram.

The suspect, a Nigerian man, engaged the deceased before they agreed to meet at the rental apartment.

Conversations between the two revealed that the deceased was hesitant to meet him at the short-stay accommodation facility. She also allegedly questioned whether the victim had intentions of ending her life.

The suspect denied the accusations and convinced her to meet him before he flew out of the country for an urgent meeting.

On Saturday, the man booked a rental house and sent the details to the victim including the meeting time and how to access the room.

The 20-year-old alighted in Roysambu where the suspect went to pick her up.

She described her outfit to the suspect and she followed him into the rental house not knowing it would be her last day alive.

At the rental apartment, detectives believe that the man committed the heinous act in the bathroom, cutting her body into pieces.

He packed the parts in a garbage bag and disposed of them in the dustbin. He later cleaned the apartment to wash away any evidence.

The suspect then left with the deceased's head and failed to return the keys to the house as instructed by the owner.

Hours after the incident was committed, the apartment's caretaker raised the alarm about the unusual load in the dustbin, and upon further inspection, he realised it was human parts.

He called the house owner and police officers who took the body to the City Mortuary before the police began piecing together the murder.

The accused alongside two others were arrested on Tuesday. Police traced the main suspect to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he sought to flee to Abuja, Nigeria.
