Through his official social media handles, Jimmy, stated that he stepped in after being touched by the boy's plight after his case was highlighted by various media outlets.

The 14-year-old boy who hails from Gatundu sat for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at Kawira Primary School in Gatundu, Kiambu County and scored 379 marks.

His good performance led  to him being the top student at the primary school, earning him a position at Weithaga Boys High School in Kangema, Murang’a County.

However, his dreams were almost shattered as his parents were unable to raise money for his school fees to join the school.

According to the boy, his parents are casual labourers and are barely able to fend for the family of 11 children.

While speaking to journalists, the boy stated  "My parents are unable to raise my school fees. They even struggle to put food on the table. We usually have a single meal per day and at times we sleep on empty stomachs”.

He noted that he was on the verge of giving up on his dreams of being an electrical engineer owing to the lack of school fees.

His father also shared the same sentiments noting that the boy's elder sibling had also missed out on tertiary education after scoring a C+ over finances.

However, in a positive turn of events, the presenter Jimmy, who hails from the same area as the boy has come to his aid, citing that he would educate the boy.

Videos have also surfaced online of the presenter shopping for the boy’s requirements to join the school.

“I am here today since I saw our area on the news and I wanted to assure you that since a child belongs to the society, this boy shall be educated”, stated Jimmy.

The presenter is affiliated with a vernacular radio station and is popular for his digital content creation in his local dialect.

This represents one of the numerous instances where well wishers step forward to support students and pupils from humble backgrounds on the verge of missing out on joining school due to lack of school fees.
