Grief has engulfed a village in Kiambu after a man who had just been released from jail stabbed his ex-wife and her new lover, inflicting serious injuries on them.
The man reportedly attacked the duo after learning that his ex-wife was happy in a relationship with a 25-year old man which drove him to jealousy which culminated in him staging the attack.
According to reports, the man is said to have ambushed the couple at their house in Thogoto, Kiambu County on Wednesday, January 17 where he descended on them.
According to witnesses, the suspect had attempted to flee from the scene when residents arrived to help the couple.
The culprit would then be forced to hide in the house where he locked himself until the time when the police arrived and apprehended him.
“The man separated with his wife who came to rent a house here in Kiambaa. Today he followed his ex-wife and attacked her and her lover,” a witness stated
He has since been arrested by police officers in Muguga village in Kiambu. The police also took the couple to Thogoto Hospital for specialised medical attention.
According to a police officer who reported at the scene, the injuries sustained by the lady's lover were more serious, requiring special attention.
The lady is also at Thogoto Hospital although her injuries from the attack are not life-threatening.
The police have confirmed the incident and have promised to investigate the case to its conclusion.
“The wife rented a house here where she got into a relationship with a 25-year-old. When the ex-husband got the information he came and stabbed the couple, the young lover got badly injured and is in hospital,” police officer stated.
The suspect on the other hand is currently being detained and has been questioned as he awaits being arraigned in court.
