A top Kenyan maize milling factory situated at Homa Bay Road in Nairobi has shut down operations and put up everything up for sale.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, on Thursday, January 25, a firm overseeing the sale stated that the property was being sold at Ksh400 million.
In a public notice published in the dailies, the factory is seeking to sell plant machinery, equipment and other associated property owned by the company.
“The company is being sold at Ksh400 million plus Value Added Tax (VAT),” Kenyans.co.ke was informed.
The property includes two adjoining plots of 0.561 and 0.563 acres each.
The first plot features 32,959 square feet comprising the milling plant, godowns and offices.
In the adjacent plot, the factory has built godowns and offices in a space totalling 24,690 square feet.
“A functioning German Buhler Milling Plant, equipment and machinery and Fawema automatic packing - 2 lines for 2-kilogram packs and 1 line for 1-kilogram packs,” the factory announced.
According to the factory, the 24-hour milling capacity for the two units is 225 tons.
This includes 120 for the first unit and 135 tons for the second unit.
Interested buyers were advised that the facility is ideal for an agricultural cooperative society dealing in maize value addition.
The company did not divulge details on the circumstances that led to the shut down.
