Homicide detectives based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), on January 26, recovered the vehicle that was allegedly used in the abduction of the late blogger Daniel Muthiani Benard alias Sniper.
Detectives stated that the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio registration number KCR ***N was recovered at a residential place in the Canopy area of Kithoka, Meru County.
"This follows a thorough forensic analysis of crucial leads, which pointed to the residential place," stated the detectives.
The investigating team added that one of the suspects, Vincent Mureithi Kirimi alias Supuu was the driver who hired the vehicle on the date of Sniper's abduction.
"He then ferried other three occupants including Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi and Boniface Kithinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom. Further investigations are ongoing with the Homicide team working expeditiously on the case," DCI stated.
Sniper's body was found disposed of at Mutonga River in the Chiakariga area of Tharaka Nithi on December 2, 2023.

Meanwhile, a postmortem that was conducted on the deceased on December 22, by government pathologist Johansen Oduor indicated that the blogger had been strangled on the neck which exhibited marks and signs of a person who died due to lack of oxygen.
Following the establishment of the cause of death, Sniper's spouse maintained her stance that she would not lay her husband to rest until justice was served.
However, Sniper was then laid to rest on January 5, at his home in Meru County as the detectives opened a court case.
Since then five individuals, including Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza's brother, Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, were arraigned in court as key suspects.
However, Governor Mwangaza claimed that the murder case was a witchhunt by senior political figures targeting her family.
