Kenyans are now calling on the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, and the Police Inspector General, Douglas Kanja, to take stern action against a foreigner who was filmed yelling at and harassing police officers at Diani Police Station in Kwale County.
In the widely circulated video, the Caucasian man can be seen confronting two uniformed police officers standing in front of the reporting desk and verbally abusing them.
The video, which was widely circulated on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, showed the unsettled foreigner spitting towards a male officer standing at one end of the room.
Moments later, the suspect could be seen wiping his hands on the officer's uniform after blowing his nose, demonstrating his contempt and arrogance.
As things escalated, the foreigner who kept moving across the reporting desk began confronting a third person who stood outside the reception, questioning why he was recoding the incident.
In the midst of the harassment and confrontation, the two officers remained calm, helplessly watching in the hope that the suspect would cool down.
According to reports, the man was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, October 28, for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in a hotel room in Kwale.
Reports further indicated that it took the intervention of the hotel management and police officers to stop the suspect from attacking his girlfriend, who sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kenyans now want CS Murkomen and IG Kanja to hold the foreigner accountable for openly and publicly harassing the police.
Among those protesting is Vocal Africa Chief Executive Officer Hussein Khalid, who criticised the National Police Service (NPS) leadership for negligence by failing to protect the two officers.
"The National Police Service are so ready to take action against Kenyans protesting for a better Kenya, yet they accept being ill-treated like this by a white guy right inside a police station?" he questioned.
