Ex-Citizen TV Show Host Charlie Ouda Dies at 38

Former Makutano Junction actor and Know Zone presenter Charlie Ouda is dead. 

Ouda's family, in a statement, revealed that the actor died on Sunday, February 4, at 38. 

The family together with his fiancée Ciru Muriuki, requested privacy and respect to allow Ouda's kin to grieve in this difficult moment.

"We appeal to all to give his fiancée Ciru, and the Oudas space to grieve this unfathomable loss. More details will be given in due course," read part of the statement.

His death came only six months after he was engaged to media personality Ciru Muriuki.

Ouda was a popular actor, director, songwriter, filmmaker, editor, scriptwriter, voice-over artist and event manager. He was also a television show host.

He hosted the kid's show Know Zone which aired on Citizen TV and was also an actor in the KBC drama series Makutano Junction which aired for more than 10 seasons.

His acting career spans over 11 years, with his first appearance being at the Kenya National Theatre in Eric Wainaina's 'Lwanda, Man of Stone'.

Ouda also played numerous roles in various films and television shows including; Changing Times, Higher Learning, Mali, and Kona among others which aired on major TV stations in Kenya.

He trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.

In 2016, one of his movies Who Are You won the Best Director Prize and the 72-Hour Shoot Out Judges Choice Award at the Asian American Film Lab Awards.

He has also bagged an award at the Kalasha International Award for Best Television Host. He also won the best performance by a male actor in a monologue during the Kenya Theatre Awards Roll of Honour.
