The family of the acting principal of Kihato Secondary School in Laikipia Central Sub-County is appealing to the public to assist in locating the whereabouts of its kin who vanished on Thursday last week.

A source privy to the matter explained to Kenyans.co.ke on Friday that the principal, who is identified as Wachiuri, was last seen visiting his spouse in hospital on February 1.

Moments later, the principal vanished and has not been traced to date.

The family revealed that the principal did not seem to be in his right senses in the days leading to the day he disappeared, questioning whether he was dealing with personal struggles he chose to hide.

"Frantic efforts are underway by relatives to trace him but his phone has been off since then," the source noted.

The family, therefore, urged the public to provide any information that may lead to his retrieval.

The plea, which was circulated online, has sparked discussions among Kenyans, with many pointing out the increasing pressure teachers face in recent times.

"Teachers are under a lot of stress and pressure. May he be located," Maina Kariuki stated.

"General financial status in schools plus personal responsibilities, age, and normal life challenges are posing a danger to many in the education sector," John Masunga remarked.

"Teachers and police officers are the oppressed by this regime," Kioni Gracy remarked.

The incident follows another recent case in Embu County where a teacher died by suicide after his ex-girlfriend rejected him.

The man left behind a note, indicating that he could not fathom the girl falling in love with someone else and hence decided to take his own life.

He further detailed that he sought to be laid to rest on Valentine's Day with his ex-girlfriend reading the eulogy.
