Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore on Sunday, February 11, asked Kenyans to start learning the German language ahead of the anticipated talent exportation.
The CS made the remarks after landing in Germany to follow up on job opportunities agreed upon by President William Ruto and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Bore remarked that those who master the European language will stand a better chance of landing an opportunity to work abroad.
“Learn the German language in the meanwhile, within a short period one should learn the basics,” she stated.
The CS told jobless Kenyans that they should keep in mind that opportunity favours the prepared.
CS Bore remarking on her itinerary in Berlin, stated that she was received by the Deputy Ambassador Valarie Rugene.
On May 5, President William Ruto’s government announced that over 250,000 Kenyans would get job opportunities in Germany.
The opportunities in Germany span all job levels including the; professional, skilled and semi-skilled cadres.
Additionally, the President has entered into similar labour agreements with other countries mainly in the Middle East.
Ruto has remarked that this is one of the ways Kenya will be able to eradicate unemployment and at the same time earn foreign exchange.
As per the President, the salaries for the jobs in question range between Ksh100,000 and Ksh150,000.
On Saturday, February 3, Kenya exported its first batch of 500 migrants to various countries including; Saudi Arabia, Oman, Germany, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
