Tongaren MP John Chakati, who belongs to the FORD-Kenya Party, a Kenya Kwanza affiliate, has called on President William Ruto to grant Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka a job in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking during a morning interview, Chakati who is the Ford-Kenya Secretary General opined that Kalonzo may not have the capacity to run the opposition once Azimio leader Raila Odinga exits the political scene.
Chakati urged the President to carve out a position for Kalonzo explaining that the Wiper Party leader is better suited being in government than in the opposition.
“The blood of KANU runs in him, the blood of diplomacy, the blood of government. He is a person of diplomacy, decision-making and managing affairs,” explained the MP.
The MP claimed that Kalonzo may not be able to lead the opposition as he had in the past refrained from taking a stand on controversial topics.
“The opposition does not run in Kalonzo's blood. Kalonzo does not know how to oppose anything, he is where he is because of circumstances, and he is not enjoying,” elaborated Chakati.
Meanwhile, Kalonzo has declared his interest in leading the Azimio alliance after the speculated exit of opposition leader Raila Odinga from active politics as he angles for the African Union Commission chairperson position.
“With the exit of Raila, if he has to exit politics, I do not see Kalonzo being able to step into his shoes even 15% stated,” the MP.
During a political function in Homa Bay County on Wednesday, Kalonzo reiterated that he was ready to take over the mantle from Raila stating that he is the man for the job.
“If you are missing Baba, there is Uncle Stevo, “I hope I am convincing you that there is absolutely no need for fear,” stated Kalonzo during the conference.
However, the speculations for the Azimio's kingpin's exit from the political scene may hit a hurdle after Raila stated that he has no intention of exiting.
According to Raila, even if he clinches the coveted A.U seat, he will still play a role in Kenya's politics citing that the position will not deter his 2027 presidential candidacy bid.
