The Tirioko Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Sam Lokales on Friday, March 1, 2024, sustained a serious cut on his arm following a fight with a fellow politician.

According to Lokales, his fellow MCA attacked him with a soda bottle after an altercation ensued during a selection committee meeting at a hotel in Mogotio.

"He took a bottle of soda and struck me on the arm for reasons unknown," Lokales stated.

The MCA speaking to a local media house, stated that his life was in danger, as he had received serious threats from his counterpart.

He also added that he was forced to seek medical attention since the incident left him with severe tissue injuries on his right arm.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the accused denied the claims, adding that it was a mere altercation, and exchange of words, over committee positions in the Assembly.

Defending himself, the MCA added that there was no physical fight during the disagreement, citing testimonies from those present during the meeting.

“Those are just rumours and propaganda by Lokales. Nothing of such happened. We quarrelled and it ended there,” he stated.

“That guy is a cartoonist, he just wants to profile me for no reason. The hotel management and other people present can confirm this,” he added.

This comes after Laikipia MCAs on February 21, engaged in physical fights during Assembly proceedings, after two opposing camps went at each other over plans to oust Minority Leader Sammy Lekopien Parletto.

The commotion started after a section of MCAs started protesting when the Speaker began reading the motion of impeachment against the minority leader.

The MCAs supporting the Minority Leader argued that the notice was read without prior communication. The deputy speaker then took on his boss in a duel while other county legislators stormed out of the house.
