A church member has moved to court demanding a Ksh2.6 million refund from a Pastor in a botched business deal.

According to the Lady, her decision to send the money to the Pastor without an agreement was informed by her trust in him as he was a man of God and she didn’t anticipate he would con her.

The woman alleged that the Pastor, whom she had met several years ago, was supposed to purchase and maintain a herd of cows for her at his home after he had assured her of his capability to do so.

However, the lady confirmed that her attempts to visit the Pastor’s home proved futile after he evaded her communication.

She also alleged that the Pastor in question, convinced her that the cows were out grazing in other fields whenever she expressed interest in visiting his home.

"When I tried asking him if I could see the cows, he evaded me stating the cows had moved to greener pastures. Eventually, he switched off his phone,” stated the lady

Further, she explained that she wired the money to the Pastor through mobile money services, with her withdrawing Ksh1,020,000 million from her bank which she sent through two of his phone numbers.

“I trusted the pastor so much and I did not disagree with whatever he said to the extent that I never entered into an agreement with him,” stated the lady

Speaking in court the woman also revealed that she had earlier committed a vehicle she had bought to the same Pastor for anointing.

However, she elaborated that afterwards, the Pastor possessed it for six months stating that he was not done with the prayers until the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) intervened to help her repossess it.

The lady is now requesting the court to have the Pastor refund her money, stating that she was duped into sending it.

This is not the first case of Kenyans alleging being conned as in June 2023, a woman was accused of defrauding Ksh3.9 million from Mombasa residents under the guise of allocating them jobs in Saudi Arabia, Canada, Singapore and Dubai

Additionally, in another alleged scandal, Ekeza Sacco C. E.O Bishop David Kariuki Ngare alias Gakuyo was arrested and released on bond after being accused of misappropriating funds deposited by members of the Sacco.
