A video of a 23-year-old Killed by the blades of a man-made chopper has taken the internet by storm with many Kenyans sending their deepest condolences.

The video has gone viral online and sparked debate among Kenyans. It was first shared on Tuesday, March 26, and several online users have reshared it. However, no social media user has offered clarification of its origin.

A section of Kenyans pointed out the danger of testing man-made planes without the necessary safety procedures being adhered to.

Additionally, some referred to past instances where locals were gathering near a man-made chopper without realising the danger they put themselves in.

On the other hand, some Kenyans cautioned young innovators to be careful while attempting to make planes, cars and other vessels using scrap metal.

A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that the incident did occur and the young dropout died instantly.

The incident, however, is not recent and did not occur in Kenya. It was reported on August 12, 2021, in India during a test trial of the chopper.

Sheikh Ismail's death was caught on camera after the blades of the chopper detached from it and struck him to the ground. Those filming and spectators rushed to the incident only to find Ismail's lifeless body on the ground.

As reported by Indian media houses, the deceased dropped out of class eight and started working with his brother at a welding workshop. While at the workshop, Ismail mastered the art of making items with steel and aluminium sheets.

With his new knowledge and skills, Ismail pursued his passion, making himself and his village famous. He was inspired by a character from a famous Indian movie.

He took to YouTube videos and other sources of information and embarked on his goal of making a working chopper.

After two years, it was completed and Ismail wanted to display it on Independence Day, but died during the final test run. His friends noted that he used to conduct the trails with a helmet and other safety equipment but did not have them on the day of his death.

Cases of fatalities being reported after one is struck by a helicopter/chopper blade are not uncommon. In November last year, a teacher from Garissa County died during in a similar accident.
