Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage has surfaced, revealing a brazen daylight robbery in the Eastleigh area that has left a 26-year-old businessman injured.

The incident on Saturday, March 30, captured on video circulating online, depicts two assailants on a motorbike intercepting the businessman, identified as Adan Ali Mohamed, who was also on a motorbike heading to deposit money at a bank at BBS Mall.

In the video, one of the perpetrators dismounts the motorbike, brandishes a firearm, and shoots the businessman before snatching a bag of money he was carrying.

The perpetrators reportedly fled the scene with approximately Ksh3.97 million.

Reports indicate that the businessman sustained injuries from the gunshot during the altercation. Well-wishers rushed him to the nearby Health Gate Hospital, where he is recuperating.

As of now, the full extent of Adan's injuries and the severity of the shooting remain undisclosed.

Following the incident, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrived at the scene to gather evidence and assess the situation.

However, despite the presence of numerous law enforcement agencies around Eastleigh, the busy business district continues to grapple with escalating crime rates.

Surrounded by five police stations, including Pangani Police Station, Eastleigh North Police Station, Eastleigh Airbase Administration Police Camp, California Police Post, and Moi Air Base, a military airport, the area has witnessed a series of criminal incidents in recent times.

In August last year, police launched an investigation into the fatal stabbing of a notorious criminal along Third Avenue in Eastleigh.

The 19-year-old victim was involved in a confrontation between rival criminal gangs.

In November, three individuals suspected of belonging to a criminal gang involved in extorting money from PSV operators were apprehended and charged with robbery with violence. These suspects allegedly targeted PSV drivers and matatu Sacco officials, demanding payment for their services and resorting to violence when refused.

Their charges include forcibly collecting Ksh6,400 from an individual along First Avenue, robbing a Sacco official of Ksh7,200, and stealing Ksh3,000 and a mobile phone worth Ksh10,000 during a daylight robbery.
