Two suspected gang members were on Saturday night gunned down by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives after a fierce shootout in Umoja Estate, Nakuru.

According to the DCI, the law enforcement officers were conducting an operation to arrest the gang following a tip-off from members of the public.

As fate would have it, once the law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, the gang reacted by shooting at the officers.

This prompted a shootout between the two parties.

According to the DCI, two of the gang members were felled.

Two others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Further, the security agencies managed to recover a loaded rifle from the two felled members, alongside other items believed to have been used in illegal activities.

“From the felled robbers, a LIAI rifle loaded with four rounds of ammunition, a panga, dagger, hammer, a pair of pliers, balaclavas and spent cartridges were recovered, stated the DCI.”

The scene has since been processed by the Crime Scene Investigators.

The bodies were moved to the Nakuru Annex Morgue awaiting identification.

However, the DCI are still in pursuit of the two members who managed to escape.

This comes after two suspects of a robbery in Eastleigh were found dead with their bodies spotted in different areas of Kiambu County on Wednesday, April 10.

It is reported that the two were allegedly murdered after they stole Ksh3.9 million from a businessman.

However, the mystery behind their death is yet to be unraveled.
