Alarm As Cholera Cases in Naivasha Rise

2 children have been admitted in hospital with cholera in Naivasha.

The two raises the number of confirmed cases in the area to 16, causing panic among residents.

The Star reports that one child is a 12 year old pupil of Naivasha DEB Primary School, the largest primary school in the town.

There are fears that he could have passed on the infection to his siblings as he is the sole provider for the family, usually begging in the streets for food to feed them.

According to The Standard, public health officers moved in to contain the outbreak, disinfecting classrooms and latrines and supplying the management with water treatment tablets.

The second case was reported in the County Council estate.

The town has a standing ban on food hawking in an attempt to contain the disease.
