Alfred Keter and Sonia Birdi To Face Corruption Charges

The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has approved that corruption charges be filed against Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and nominated MP Sonia Birdi.

A statement from the prosecutor’s office reads that office of the prosecution has established that the evidence presented against the two is sufficient to enable criminal charges be set up.

Tobiko added that the EACC will initiate the process of removing the legislators from office.

Keter and Birdi are accused of trying to bribe officials at a weigh bridge to have an impounded lorry released.



Muranga County governor Mwangi wa Iria will also be charged for abuse of office.

The three are part of the 175 individuals named in an Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision report detailing corruption in the public service.
