The Alliance Boys High School Old Boys Association Gives School's Management Ultimatum to Resign Over Mismanagement

A fresh storm is brewing at Alliance High School after the school’s Old Boys Association warned that they will withdraw their support to the school.

Led by architect Prof Alfred Omenya, the Old Boys Association in a report accused the school’s management of failing to offer effective leadership and sleeping on the job.

Omenya stated that the management ought to be replaced and the board reconstituted with those who have served for more than six years resigning.

“After consulting with a wide range of stakeholders, the committee advises that there is a need for the board to be reconstituted. Members who have served more than six years should resign,” stated Omenya.

He outlined that the failure by the management to exercise effective supervisory authority, triggered the bullying crisis that faced the prestigious school recently.

The architect warned that should the board members fail to resign voluntarily, the association would withdraw its support to the school.

The scathing report by a committee formed by the Old boys Association to probe the bullying accusations and assessment of the board comes amidst calls of stiffer penalties and remedies.

The bullying scandal at the school led to the unceremonious exit of the Principal David Kariuki in March and replaced by Lenana Principal William Mwangi.

Kariuki’s Deputy principal Nicholas Ndege was however interdicted, a move strongly protested by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) claiming that Ndege was being made a scapegoat.

Alliance was the first school in Kenya to offer secondary education to Africans.
