ANC Will Not Hold Joint Nominations in NASA - Secretary General George Otsotsi

Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) has sparked tension in the National Super Alliance (NASA) after its recent announcement.

The party on Monday announced that it will not hold joint nominations with other parties in the Opposition.

Through Secretary General George Otsotsi, ANC stated that it had not agreed to conduct joint primaries especially in areas where NASA parties enjoy equal support.

Otsotsi stated that ANC, ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya would battle it out in the primaries despite earlier reports that the Alliance had settled on using consensus and joint nominations to select its candidates.

“At no point have we discussed the idea of joint nominations. We are saying that in places like western where NASA is very strong, each party should field its own candidate because its obvious Jubilee can't win," he was quoted by a local daily.

The Secretary General accused Ford Kenya of spreading falsehoods that ANC would support its candidates, especially in the Western region, a statement that could spark a rift with the Moses Wetangula-led party.

“We have discussed nothing like this. The propaganda is being spread by some Ford Kenya aspirants who fear Amani aspirants,” claimed Otsotsi.

Over the weekend, media reports emerged that the Opposition had mapped out areas in which joint primaries would be held, specifically, regions where more than one party enjoys popularity.

According to the reports, the move would help NASA avoid internal competition which would give its opponents a competitive advantage.
