Angry Youth Force Raila to Cut His Speech During Rally in Mombasa County

ODM leader Raila Odinga was on Wednesday forced to cut his speech six times after rowdy youth began shouting during his rally at Changamwe volleyball grounds in Mombasa County.

The irate youth booed and heckled as Odinga delivered his speech causing confusion and commotion among the gathering.

An infuriated Odinga cut his address and ordered the young men to keep quiet but his plea fell on deaf ears.

“If you came here for the meeting then keep quiet. If you came here to cause chaos, you will be ejected…keep quiet…young men keep quiet because I have come here with a very serious message,” Odinga said.

The shouting persisted compelling the former Primer minister to order security personnel to bring one of the young men to the podium so that he could explain why they were causing disturbance.

"Bring that youth here…bring him here to me,” ordered Mr Odinga.

After getting to the podium, the man said that area Members of Parliament (MP) Omar Mwinyi had abandoned them since he was elected in 2013 and only appeared when he campaigned for the Opposition leader.

Things got worse after the rowdy youth became more persistent with the heckling compelling the security men to eject them out of the meeting.

Minutes after they were thrown out of the grounds, they started hurling stones at the gathering forcing the crowd to scamper for safety and disrupt the whole meeting for some few minutes.

Security personnel, backed up by police officers managed to completely chase away the young men from the event.

The former Premier, looking a bit tired from the commotion, resumed his speech and urged the youth to register in large numbers.
