Anne Waiguru's Billboards Destroyed in Kirinyaga

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) and Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant Anne Waiguru has suffered huge losses after an attack on two of her mega billboards.

The Boards erected at Kagio and Makutano were torn apart by unknown people under unclear circumstances.

This elicited a sharp reaction from Ms Waiguru’s supporters who condemned the act as a show of cowardice from her opponents.

Led by Waiguru’s running mate Peter Ndambiri, the supporters castigated the goons who were allegedly hired to shred the billboards noting that she would not be intimidated.

Ndambiri accused Waiguru’s opponents of engaging in malice and using underhand tactics with the intention of disparaging her gubernatorial ambitions ahead of the August 8 polls.

“Those who destroyed our billboards are sensing defeat, she is stronger politically than before and those who vandalised the billboards will not discourage her at all," stated Ndambiri.

He added that no amount of intimidation would deter Waiguru from pursuing her ambition and called on the police to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

The running mate emphasised that the incident would not distract the former CS adding that the destroyed pieces would be replaced.

The incident comes days after a group of over 300 campaign coordinators allied to Waiguru decamped to her opponent, incumbent Governor Joseph Ndathi's camp.
