Awendo Parliamentary Aspirant Walter Sirawa Caught with 16000 Ballot Papers

Awendo parliamentary aspirant Walter Sirawa, who clinched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket during nominations, was arrested at Florence Hotel in Migori Town after he was found with 16,000 ballot papers.

Mr Sirawa together with the returning officer, Martin Rege, who presided over the Awendo ODM nominations, were caught tearing incumbent Okoth Obado's ballot papers.

When asked why he was in the hotel instead of delivering results to the county tallying centre, Mr Rege argued he was only there to relieve himself.

The two were taken to Migori Police Station alongside an unidentified man.

Heavy security was deployed at the hotel to ensure no evidence was tampered with.
