An Equity Bank branch in Othaya, Nyeri County lost Sh30 Million on Friday.
Imposter auditors are said to have arrived at the Othaya Equity branch at around 6.50am and identified themselves as auditors from Equity Nairobi branch.
Confirming the incident, Central Regional Police Commander Larry Kieng noted that shortly after making their way into the bank, the suspects unleashed their weapons.
"When the men entered the bank, they drew a knife and ordered the guards to lie down as they stashed the money into three sacks," he said.
The armed robbers escaped with the loot through the bank's backdoor. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack.
Police have since launched investigations into the incident.
