Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga on Tuesday accused ODM chairman John Mbadi of favouring some candidates ahead of the Party Primaries slated for February 2017.
Speaking in a public forum, Ruth told Mbadi to be fair to all Orange Party members ahead of the primaries or resign as ODM chairman.
"As the chairman, he should be neutral and focus on how best ODM party can be made more vibrant or resign if he cannot handle his roles.
"Mbadi should support party structures so that we can have free, fair and transparent nominations," Ruth affirmed.
The Deputy Governor's accusations emerged after Mbadi hosted a harambee last week and invited Governors Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) and Jack Ranguma (Kisumu) which raised questions about his independence.
"Some of the Governors who are now close to Mbadi have done nothing substantive for the party. Their development records are wanting," Ruth said.
In the recent past, ODM primaries have been marred by violence and allegations of rigging with some leaders and aspirants claiming that some of the incumbents would be favoured.
However, ODM leader Raila Odinga has on several occasions assured that the nominations will be free and fair even warning that stern action would be taken against those who cause violence.
