Betting Millionaire Wins Jubilee Party Ticket in Nominations

Barely a few days after a Kakamega-born man, Samuel Abisai, won the grand Sh221 Million Sportpesa Jackpot, another betting millionaire is making news for the right reasons.

A year after winning M-Cheza sports Lottery, Edmond Ng'etich has extended his winning streak to politics.

Ngetich came into the limelight less than a year ago after winning Sh10.5 Million in the M-Cheza sports lottery, joining the growing list of Kenyans who have made it to the millionaires' club through betting.

In the recently concluded Jubilee party nominations, Ngetich won the Jubilee ticket to contest for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Kaplelartet Ward.

Ngetich beat five other competitors for the ticket in a race that saw the incumbent Andrew Soi come a distant fourth.

Five months after winning the lottery, his celebrity status was enhanced after he married 2014 Commonwealth 5000m athletics champion Mercy Cherono in a lavish ceremony.

Ngetich comes from a family actively engaged in politics and his entry into politics was only a matter of time.

His father served as a councillor for Kaplelartet Ward between 1997 and 2007.

He will be betting to win the MCA seat in the August elections.
