Thika Town was today brought to a standstill after supporters of Bishop David Kariuki Ngari alias Gakuyo took to the street to protest over an exposé aired on KTN TV yesterday.
The news piece implicated Bishop Gakuyo of misappropriating funds of a real estate investment SACCO known as Ekeza.
According to the exposé, over 7,000 Kenyans signed up with Gakuyo Real Estate firm and ended up being conned large sums of money.
The demonstrators are accusing Kiambu Governor William Kabogo of sponsoring the story aired on TV to taint the Bishop's image.
Bishop Gakuyo is seeking to be the next Kiambu Governor. He will face off with incumbent Kabogo and Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu.
