Bomet Residents Vow to Send Home Isaac Ruto

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto on Saturday faced rejection from residents of his own county during a visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Leaders from the area led residents in vowing to kick Ruto out of office in 2017 after his defiance to join the Jubilee Party which enjoys popular support in the region.

Led by Chepalungu Member of Parliament Paul Bii, the constituents made the declaration insisting that the Governor no longer represented their interests.

The pronouncements came during a rally at Chebunyo trading centre where Kenyatta launched the tarmacking of a Sh2 Billion road to serve Bomet, Narok and Transmara counties.

Following the stand by the residents, President Kenyatta noted that it was important for leaders to appreciate development projects initiated by the government rather than criticise them.

He insisted that politics should not be allowed to derail progress by creating division among leaders.

“You voted and put us in office so that we will work and improve your lives but not to engage in issues that will hold us back and slow down implementation of development projects,” Kenyatta said.

Deputy President William Ruto who was also in attendance shunned leaders who were a stumbling block to development, urging Bomet electorates not to gamble with their lives in the upcoming polls.

“What type of a leader are you if you can rush to court to block improvement of roads, installation of medical equipment in hospitals and construction of a university?” posed Ruto.

The two were speaking during the last leg of their three-day tour of Rift Valley region where they launched multi-billion projects in Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Kericho and Bomet.
