Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda Denies Opposing Raila Odinga's Presidential Bid in Siaya County

Anxiety is high in Raila Odinga's home turf of Bondo, Siaya County after leaflets were circulated on Tuesday suggesting that there was a plot to ensure that the former Prime Minister is not elected President in the upcoming General Election.

The leaflets claimed that area Member of Parliament (MP) Gideon Ochanda held a meeting with two disgruntled sub-clans in Bondo on Monday to esnure Odinga did not ascend to power in 2017.

However, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the legislator vehemently denied the claims and accused other politicians of doing so with the aim of tarnishing his name.

“This is the work of cowards. If they have any evidence, let them come out in the public,” Mr Ochanda affirmed.

The legislator added: “The dirty tactics employed by my enemies to smear my name might affect voter turn out in 2017 Elections.”

Ochanda further urged all members of the ODM Party to remain united and stop the infighting to help Odinga dethrone President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming General Election.

The Bondo MP has not been in good terms with nominated MP Oburu Oginga (Raila's brother) who has declared that he will vie for the Bondo Parliamentary seat in next year's elections.

Although he did not mention names, Mr Ochanda said some people close to Odinga thought everyone else was an enemy.
